This feature allows for Snowflake (and also Databricks) sandbox for future deliveries that include any breaking changes. This way a customer can test their software against future changes prior to the release coming out. This way they can prepare their software, test and be ready for breaking changes.

Right now, the customers doesn't see practical examples of schema changes until a new version is published.
